The Sony ECM M1 is the microphone I use when I want clean, directional audio without adding extra complexity to my setup. It mounts directly onto the camera and gives me multiple pickup modes depending on the situation, which makes it surprisingly versatile for such a small device.
I use it most when I am filming solo and want reliable on camera audio without setting up wireless systems or extra gear. It is especially useful for run and gun shooting where I need to stay light and move quickly.
